tweeter or eq

This might sound a bit dumb but what it better in your opinion to adjust to tame a harsh top end, the tweeter or eq.

Reason I ask, my new(ish) amp is a LMII with matching 121H cab. this is the first time I've had an adjustable tweeter, my previous combo had a fixed level tweeter, and I just dialled in the eq to suit.

depending on the bass I use sometimes the top end can get a bit much and needs taming, I normally go for the eq, or even more now roll of the tone on the offending bass.

I must admit I'm at a bit of a loss why tweeters are adjustable when you've got eq on the amp feeding it. Can anyone explain?

Just for more adjustability, and different amps going with different cabinets. I usually just turn my tweeter attenuator off, it's always plenty bright for me with the treble knob around 5. I guess it could also be for a slightly different sound on stage than to the board: you could be sending a flatter signal to the board with your di, but have the tweeter cranked up giving you more sizzle on stage, or send more highs to the board and have a mellower tone on stage with less tweeter on the cabinet.
