Twin Jacks

I hope this is in the right section.

I was reading Bass Player Magazine and there is a Yamaha ad showing Billy Sheehan playing bass, with 2 jacks on the bass instead of the one, both with a cable plugged into it.

Out of curiosity alone, can someone tell me why there may be 2 jacks on a bass and what would each plug into?

Thanks,

Andy

His bass is wired in stereo. His neck pickup is routed to a different amp (EQ'ed differently) than his middle pickup.

Two pickups sent to two amps.

A few others have done this, I for one have and love it, but it's not always convenient.
