I'm gearing up for playing in some bars/night clubs and have been looking for some beater basses which won't break my heart if they get knocked around a bit. Not too keen on taking my vintage pieces out for these types of gigs.

Scored the black Squier Deluxe Active Jazz 5'er for a song off of my local CL. A really fun bass and sounds awesome. It's only issue was that the stacked pot spun 360 degrees without a stop. Scored an $8 pot on eBay, soldered it in tonight and its good to go!

The Vintage Modified 4 banger belonged to a very close friend of mine. He hasn't used it in a while and decided to sell it to me for a deal. He routed the bridge pickup cavity to fit a humbucker out of a Fender Deluxe Precision Bass. This thing is Burp City! Sounds so good when solo'ed. The neck pickup is a Dimarzio Ultra Jazz and it provides the cream lows. Also quite delicious when solo'ed. Together they sound like no other bass I own - very cool. The pots were upgraded to Bournes, USA Jazz knobs installed, a Gotoh high mass bridge, and 70's Fender logo applied and glossed over. Came out absolutely killer!

Here's a photo of the funky bunch:

Forgive me if you already have read about it, but you might be interested in the mod I did to my SX that has a similar pup configuration here:
