U.S. or Czech made spector really worth it?

Now it's got the Spector vibe,look...and the Spector USA tone. And all together I spent less than $600, case included.

My advise, find a Spector that looks/feels good to you. You can upgrade the electronics when you have the $$$ and the desire. Where the bass is made is of secondary importance unless you plan on flippin' it soon.

Korean NS-2A's and the modern Korean Spectors are no comparison. The 2A's aren't as fancy, but they're built a whole lot better and sound better, while not the signature Spector sound. If you can find a NS-2A, grab it!

As far as the Euros, used ones can be had fairly cheap and with the prices going nowhere but up, that would be the first place to look.

I'm sure you are more up on the modern Spectors than I am, so I'll defer...

I do know that I tried some USA Spectors around the time I bought my Korean NS2a > (thanks, forgot which one was the "a") and feel-wise, they were very close. Yeah, the gold, the inlays on the fretboard, blah, blah, blah, but playability was close. Of course, the US models had the EMG active setup, which was missing on the Korean model. As I stated, I did the upgrade, & now my Spector is all that a Spector should be.

To the OP: you could look at ebay for an NS2a in decent condition; they are still not hugely expensive, going in the 5's & 6's. They are a very close, neck-thru, import version of the original US made model. Definitely worth a look, if you can find one in decent condition.

I got a deal on a new Rebop 5 with the Aguilar pre for around 600. OK bass, but it's the only one that fell flat on it's face when the strings got a bit used. I may as well have been playing a (insert the cheesiest bass you can think of here) after 10+ hours on the strings. I also found the gloss (laquer?) finish extremely easy to scratch. Went bye bye for a straight trade on a mint 4003 that I kept for a week. I still can't believe I traded straight for a Rick. Same (different) lame tone. Save for a MM!

yeah guys you have been a real help. I took the korean made spector for 350. I decided at my age it was a great deal and that its an intro to 5 string. I will put up pictures shortly.
But I have a question, the tuner heads are a little worn and I want to put the real tuner heads not the knock offs on, any tips on how to do that?
