If you haven't read the wikipedia article on uke, do so.

Don't buy a cheap uke. They have awful tone and worse intonation.

Don't buy a uke built like a little guitar. Ukes are more mellow than guitars. Play a few and you'll know what I mean. They are really sweet.

My wife owns an Anuenue which is nice and was cheaper than Kala. Kala are great too.

I got bit by the uke bug just about a month ago. I have a Fender concert and a Ohana Baratone. They are great fun and have added a new twist on my songwriting and musical journey.
