Ultimate Bass?

hey girl :) i dont think there is one ! most people would choose a super expensive fodera or other luxury bass. i have a 5000$ spector bass but i like my 700$ spector legend better. lots of the extra money goes toward special selected woods and craftsmanship, but doesnt always mean its "better". try some basses in the store, try a spector legend.

I totally agree. My Peavey Dyna Koa is all the bass I could hope for. I may want another bass, but do not need one.

I would really like to get my hands on a Gibson RD or a nice original Hagstrom Concord/Viking. I sincerely don't enjoy playing ultra-modern and stylized instruments like Pedullas and Rbasses (and I think they're ugly as hell), and tend to gravitate towards thicker, more vintage-y sounds. The exception would be a Status headless, which I would absolutely love.

Personal ergonomics come into play, sitting some basses producing epic tone, are less comfortable standing.I am not sure on a day in, day out basis I'd be happy with a rare wood 37 string botique bass with a neck as wide as my third wife's behind.

Altough I would love to exploit the rich tone of the Mothman in a studio setting, I would not want to wear it six sets a nite giggin' in a cougar bar.

It's all subjective, but my personal preference?

I've always wanted Modulus Quantum IV. I played a Fender Custom Shop Jazz that I fell in lust with, but couldn't afford the $2200. Fell in love with a MusicMan Cutlass II back in 1980, but can't find another one. Loved my Stienberger for years until I missed the sound of wood. Still got it and play it every so often. I'm pretty happy with my Musicman Sterling.
