Bad ass on the electric as a DI, I've never used it with the upright live.
It's quite versatile for recording bass...fattens up a condenser (makes it less harsh!), pairs wonderfully with an EV RE20 (or even a Shure SM7B), pretty good with my cheap ribbon.
Yeah, it at least gives me 'some' control on what I am hearing when not bringing an amp.
I suggest you experiment with different tubes. I don't recall what I have in them now (I have two!), but it's quite surprising how much change different tubes make.
If I were looking at Tube DI's Jule Monique has a new preamp DI the "Simone" that will be out eventually. Here's a picture. It's bass specific and all tube. Just my take of course

Yes, I won't be throwing that in my backpack.I hope it has some kind of cover, otherwise, I can't see that as a practical "live" DI.
And how about this: Summit Audio 2Ba-221I am looking at this (UA solo/610) and the REDDI, and the Groove Tubes Brick - Does anyone feel that any one of these is particularly better or worse than another? Thanks!
