Double Bass Universal Audio Solo 610 - Live?

Bad ass on the electric as a DI, I've never used it with the upright live.

It's quite versatile for recording bass...fattens up a condenser (makes it less harsh!), pairs wonderfully with an EV RE20 (or even a Shure SM7B), pretty good with my cheap ribbon.

I do play my fair share of electric gigs too... so... you have used a UA Solo/610 as a DI with good success in a live settings?

I do not have UA per se but I have just been given a 500 series lunch box with a Lindell and Fredenstein tube pre and Neve copy EQ and it was problematic with remic and AKG contact mics. And even with the full circle, I can only play so loudly. You really need a notch filter with a mic when playing live. You can EQ it out but then you tone suffers. I just rehearsed loudly last night and I used a new to me EBD2 and that notch filter was the key when micing and playing loud. However a notch filter acts like an EQ also and my Remic sound was compromised a bit but still better than just the full circle. Maybe use your UA before the amp after you remedied the howling and feedback upstream with another device.

If I were looking at Tube DI's Jule Monique has a new preamp DI the "Simone" that will be out eventually. Here's a picture. It's bass specific and all tube. Just my take of course

I had the brick and it wasn't too spectacular on upright. i had it for home recording and tried it out a few times. not bad.

i have been using the focusrite ISA one for different things and was surprised at how well it sounded on upright. no tubes in it but i was easily able to dial in a nice tight punchy sound.

i just bought a genz benz shuttle for my electric bass but i want to see how the tubes in that sound with my upright.
