Yes. I am not going to give names and start arguments. Just going to call out I have seen some pro bassists live who have no stage presence and manage to play simple lines poorly while still collecting a paycheck.

Luckily I have seen more excellent pro bassists than poor quality ones. The poor quality ones can ruin a show. On the plus side, most of the poor quality ones were replaced after the tour I saw them on. Makes me feel like I am at least not making it up to feel better about myself (though it is just as likely they simply were not available for the next tour).

Smart not to state specific examples.

Awww.... I'm no where good enough to be throwing darts at anybody. And its so subjective of a topic. But I can think of quite a few of the "legends" who laid down an incredible simple bass line for some of the greatest bands / songs of all time. Was that cause thats all they had the ability to do? Or were they playing their part incredibly well? I mean these bands / songs are legendary to this day and that simple baseline has been sang by millions for decades? Aint nobody humming my baselines.

Let's see some of your live performances.
