Update Profile Picture/Avatar

Hi all... I've been registered on this site since something like 2007, but spent essentially the entire time lurking.

I'm looking to get a little more active on here, but stupidly I can't find a way to update my profile picture/avatar. I've managed to update my profile *banner*, but that seems to be a different thing.

In screenshots others have posted, they all say to click on my name in the top right, then either the avatar itself, or Account Details, but neither option shows me an "edit/select avatar" button.

I'm SURE I'm just an old fool here, but hopefully someone can show me what to do?

Are you doing this on desktop or mobile?

On mobile, when I click right on my avatar in the top corner it looks like this:

You can see it says edit right on the avatar.

Good news: edit *now* shows up... you can see it was not appearing in my original screenshots.

I suspect there was a 24 hour lag between moving my account from being a lurker to a proper poster that was preventing the "edit" button appearing. Probably an anti-bot measure, which seems fair enough to me!

I posted here and there, and wouldn't you know it: this morning, edit has shown up, so now you can all see the back of my 1976 Fender Mustang. lol

@thequijano Did the edit option ever show up for you? I also seem to be without the option to edit my avatar. It's been several days since I took the (long overdue) action to stop lurking and register.

There should be a notice at the top of your screen, if you are newly registered and have limited features. This is indeed for security purposes. If you are not seeing this notice please let me know -

I do have a notice at the top of the page that states "Welcome to TalkBass! As a new member you may have limited permissions in a few areas. Please contact us with any questions!"

I guess my first questions would be, "Is there a list of the restrictions posted somewhere? And under what conditions are they removed?" Based on MGStreak's posts, it appeared a timer might adjudicate the probationary period. So after a few days of waiting I thought I'd ask. I couldn't find anything in the Help documentation on the topic.

Hey Boss- I’ve been a lurker too, but wanting to get more involved also. I’d like to update my “M” to a picture of something, but I’m in the same boat as OP. When will I be able to change that “M” to something cooler?
