upgrade to Transit B

I am currently running (among other things) a Korg Pitchblack Plus, a Trace Elliott dual compressor, and an MXR DI+. I'm thinking of swapping those out for a Trace Elliott Transit B. I've never been 100% happy with the MXR and the odd power supply issues with the compressorare a pain in the butt. Does this sound like a good idea?

The Transit B doesn’t do dual inputs like the Pitchblack Plus, but I have to admit that it is a great box that does all the basics really, really well. It hasn’t ever quite received the accolades of other preamp/DIs, and I have many of them, but it does sound great. Quiet. Engineered well. Sounds great. I’ve had a couple college-bound players looking for a fly rig try mine and buy it for the sound and versatility. Hope that helps.

Tuning on the Transit B is OK. It gets you there most of the way but it isn't a good replacement for an accurate tuner. I like the EQ and dirt better on the Transit B than the MXR DI+. It is far more amp like. Overall DI quality is very good but I'd say MXR is probably even a little cleaner.

I am running the Transit B on a Pedaltrain Nano which leaves just enough room for my Polytune 2 Noir connected full time off of the dry out leaving the Transit B mute/tune function to be for muting only. I'm powering the setup using a Pedaltrain Volto 3 battery. The Transit B draw appears to be roughly around 700-750ma. At 6200mah the Volto 3 is lasting 5 hours of consecutive use with plenty of power to spare. I'd guess around another 2 hours. Makes for a pretty sweet rig that sounds great.

I went ahead and bought it. Between selling the pedals and a coupon, it only cost me about $20.00.

The bonuses:
one 9v supply vs. 2 9v and an 18 that needs an adapter. Being able to run drive seperately from the eq. Smaller footprint. Running an aux in and headphones out. Better overdrive. The classic TE pre shape.
The negatives:
Not having the 2 inputs from the Pitchblack+. Lots of bright lights.
My other issue which will most likely be fixed with some fiddling is drastic volume differences when the eq and/or the drive are engaged.
The compressor sounds the same as my smx pedal without the eq balance knob, but the eq section takes care of that anyway. It's a bit quieter too. I've only played it in my living room and at practice so I'm not sure if it's studio quiet, and I've heard opinions both ways on that.
