Upgrading a Spector Spectorcore

Ok heres the deal: I want to put a EMG 40DC pickup into my Spector Spectorcore (5-string) replacing the passive pickup. The problem being this: The DC pickup is driven by a 18v supply, whilst the spectorcores Fishmann system is driven by 9v.

How do i put the DC pickup (18v) into the system without blowing the active fishmann "powerbridge" and its EQ (9v) ?

You don't HAVE to run the 40DC at 18V, it will work at 9. I think if it were me I'd give that a try first, and see how it does. The added "headroom" to the pickup of 18V vs 9 might not be needed or blend well with the piezo to begin with.... If it's satisfactory or better at 9v, then you save a lot of trouble and that might be it for me. (of course the HZ pup that's in already there is ok for me, so...)

The bridge is just piezo pickups (mics) that don't use power, so you shouldn't have to worry there. It's the little "powerchip mixing preamp" and the eq that might have a problem with 18V. You might check with fishman or spector and see if they can tell and or help you. Spector in particular can be very helpful

i got a 4-string (B-E-A-D) with the 35DC and i experimented with when i put the mic in, and the thing i found is that i do haveto, the extra headroom fitted my style of playing so well i almost wet my pants

But ill follow your advice and have a word with fishman and spector, they if anyone should know
