Upgrading my bass

Hi!

So, I'm going to sell my BC Rich Warlock Bronze, now that I have no interest in "heavy" looking basses. It truly was a waste of money to look cool (really?) instead of having comfort and easy playability. I've mainly been a guitarist, but I really want to take my bass playing to a new level.

I'm looking for a bass that is light and easy to play. When I say easy I mean nice low action for proper speed and easy to press the frets when I'm doing some more technical stuff. Sound isn't really a big deal to me, since I know that a good amp will handle it. My price range is from 0 to 400 euros since I wont get to much for my current bass. Basses that have caught my eye are: Cort Curbow 4 (neck looks to long though, yuck), Ibanez basses of that price range, Spector Preformer 4 Classic. Any experiences from those basses would be awfully helpful. Also some suggestions of other basses would be great. I know the only way to find out would be to go to different guitar stores (which I plan on doing) but I live a bit far away from the nearest city so I need to go a bit informed on what to look out for.

Thank you so much! :)

I wouldn't say a second hand bass is necessarily a bad idea. However, you do need to make sure that you buy from reputable sources. You need to know what you are looking at as well. Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous people who will sell stolen basses, or try to pawn off an imitation bass as the real deal.

That being said, two of the three basses that I own were used before they made their way to me. I acquired both of them through the basses for sale forums on here, and have not had a single problem buying, selling, or trading anything with another TalkBass member. Where you really need to lookout is Craigslist and eBay for the scams.
