Upgrading My Current Rig

so as of right now, i am running:

fender jazz

behringer ultrabass head
sansamp rbi
digitech odb3

hartke 8x10

i am looking for a head to get that will give me power as well a nice crunchy tone. i have been told just to get a power amp and thats it and run it through the preamp and pedal.

im not sure if i want to get a new cab or not, this one sounds good, but its old. its actually not mine, but im borrowing it from my friend till he gets back from iraq and might buy it but am not sure.

i usually play drop c. in a thrash/hardcore/southern metal band.

any suggestions? thanks

well all i have is guitar center. i only go there when i need accessories haha. their bass section is wretched. i can pretty much try out ampegs, gk, and a few markbass rigs haha.
and a local shop that sells maybe 7 basses and no bass amps.

would getting just a power amp be a good idea? it would probably, make my rig way less versatile than getting a new head wouldnt it?

hook the sans amp to the effects loop in not sure wich one but you want to run the pedal to the send or the return and it will use the pedal as the preamp. it should over ride your amps pre section and only the volume on the amp will work. give it a try, i could be wrong

i will try that. too bad my practice space is 40 mins away. right now i have it something like:

bass>odb>sansamp>amp. using all inputs and stuff. the sansamp has a lot of jacks on the back that confuse me haha. i did read to manual too. so if i just ran the sansamp into the effects loop instead of the input it should work?

i ran my set up bass>sansamp rbi> kustom groove bass 1200 but i ran it like i said with using the in on the effects loop. on the back of the rbi there should be a 1/4 out put that says sansamp output run that into the the send or return of your effects loop (not sure as to what one it was) and it should scream i loved the way that it sounded for me.

PoundinThunder: Not sure how you've got your SansAmp set up, but there's a little button on the front called Active. Press that, and the EQ section turns on. Otherwise, it's just a direct box.

Also, like notforrobots said, the connections in the back are important.

But, the Behringer might still be a tad underpowered (don't know the wattage). If you want to switch it up, get a cheap power amp instead and run the RBI as your preamp. I have that setup, and it works great.

The Carvin DCM series is cheap! 1,000 watts into 4 ohms for $350. (DCM1000)
