UPS

Whats even more fun is when the seller requires an adult sig, and they deliver between 8am and 7 pm. (kind of like the cable companys apointments)

First delivery notice....... No kidding, we work for a living!

2nd notice........ We still have day jobs!!

Will return to sender after 3rd notice

(this is when I start to freak out about my bass bouncing around on the truck for 3 days)

Man...... so close yet still so far away!

I like to just have it held at the station so I can grab it after work... It's a hassle but at least you know you won't miss it.

FedEx Ground won't let you do it until they've made 1 attempt, but if you call your seller and have them request it to be held you're golden.

If the website says they attempted delivery, it must be true!

This is true, even if:
-several people are at home-all day;
-the front door is open;
-the storm door has a view of the driveway, and NO 'missed you' slip is left at the door. Yeah, uh huh. ;)

I've learned to be patient and not lose any sleep over it. It gets there when it gets there.:eyebrow:

This is the best approach, I think. I ordered a custom guitar from a guy who had a waiting list, the estimated delivery was 12-14 months out. I wrote out the deposit check and forgot about it. The anticipation for that long would have killed me.

I wonder if he ever finished building it? ;)

That's what makes me sick about our local UPS crew.

I think all the drivers must be amateur psychics. They don't have to get out of the truck cuz they just know you're not getting your shipment the easy way. :spit:

Still ... It can be a let down. This is why I LOVE online trackng.

Tracking online just makes me more anxious...........tracking says 5:00 AM out for delivery (I guess that means put on a truck...surely they don't deliver that time of day!!!) and I'm anxiously waiting till it gets here at 4PM. I've come to the conclusion that we are at the end of their route!

The ups guys here are ninjas. I sat around all day one day waiting for a delivery and 9 clock rolled around and i was cussing about my package not being there,went to go check the status..."Delivered",went to the back door and it was laying on the steps. I have a decently long gravel driveway that runs along my house.no idea who he got the package there without me or my dog hearing him.

I envy you folk who have to wait because the delivery driver actually tried to deliver. Both UPS and Fedex have left signature required items in plain view on my porch. I've had pickups and parts stolen off of my porch because of this... Most recently, a tube bass head I bought from a fellow TB'er was left on my porch for 5 hours. The guy didn't even knock! I was waiting for delivery all morning. A neighbor alerted me that it was sitting beside my door...

I let everyone who I buy from know to make sure that signatures are required so no one gets burned because some poor dude has a job with absolutely unreal expectations on them. No matter how fast you get, you're always too slow. It's too bad we suffer too because of it.

I've never had any problems with UPS or Fedex. Now the USPS, that's a different story. For about ten years now, my regular mail carrier has a bad habit of not delivering packages that don't fit in the mailbox (which is out front, my aprtment door is in the back of the house) or require signing, all because she doesn't want to walk 30 feet to the back of the house where my apartment is. Which means I have to get on a bus, go downtown to the bus station and then walk two city blocks to the post office, then walk back to catch the bus back home. When I've complained about this , I've been told that the carriers cannot beforced to go to a back door of a building if they don't want to. On top of that, they lost a delivery on me that I was waiting on this weekend (only a $6 capo, but it's the principal of the thing).Tracking says it was delivered, my empty mailbox says it wasn't. I've never had problems like that with UPS or Fedex.

Did you ask for the postmaster for that PO? They may not be able to force them, but if you give them a sob story about what you have to go through, they should be able to strongly 'suggest' that they make a little more effort. Either that or put a sign on the box that says "honk" on days you think you'll get something.

you're waiting for a bass in the mail and that big brown truck just flies right past your house.

I've never bought a bass mail order - in all the last 20-30 years, I have bought all my basses from shops and have walked out of the shop, with it under my arm, knowing that I just played the bass and it is exactly what I wanted!

Much less stressful and much more satisfying!!

You're worth it!! :)
