I'm very pleased with the bass so far. The workmanship is great and the sound is dark and complex (strung with Evah Weichs). I swear it's opened up a bit more after only a few hours playing.

'Opus' means work, or artistic work. Like a composer's opus # 5, means his 5th composition. Opus # 123, means his 123rd composition.

Its the 89th professor (or solid wood flatback) we have made. Lamis, Hybrids, professors & concerts each are have their own opus count.

I wish! The Upton Bass parking lot would be full of Ferrari's if we got to 89 or 122 flatbacks in a given year!

Its the opus since we started. Each label is dated by year. I do keep a production spreadsheet that has every bass we have ever made and who the original buyer was.

And these damn autocorrects! I just re-read what I wrote last night...damn you Steve Jobs!

There's an idea--a "Ferrari Edition" Upton Concert Deluxe, with prancing horse emblem on the bridge, Ferrari-red purfling, and a carbon fiber endpin with a Z-rated Pirelli P-Zero Asymetrico tip. Oh, and it needs to somehow collapse into a custom leather case that can fit into the trunk of a 458 Italia.

I got to meet Eric at Upton this past weekend. Took a trip down there and picked up my new Shen SB150. I got a chance to play an Upton hybrid while I was there and it played and sounded fantastic. So my hope is to have the funds to upgrade to one next year and officially join the club.

Here she is. I've had her for about 10 days now. Great sounding bass, excellent craftsmanship. Very happy with the results.
