USB foot activated (numeric) keypad

I am using Reaper to play performance tracks and the need to loop/jump/goback has become more important. The simplest way to do this is just type the number of the next section on the PC keyboard, but this does not work well while playing bass or guitar. I have programmed a mini pad for this, but the solution is a bit more complex.

What would be super cool is a foot operated usb numeric keypad. Does such a thing exist? Am I crazy? Should I just forget it and buy a proper midi foot controller?

Can you trigger the marker jumps with midi cc messages? A USB midi floorboard sort of thing might work, if you can get it to talk to Reaper properly.
