USB MIDI Keyboard Controller Surface - Nektar Impact LX25+

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this device. I'm pretty new to MIDI and control surfaces and purchased one of these mainly because of the built in integration with Cakewalk/Sonar.

I went through the installation procedure and a number of the integration points are working as expected. The transport controls are working on my DAW, the keyboard and drum pads are mapping OK with virtual Midi instruments. There are very few Cakewalk specific tutorials for using this device and not being that familiar with control surfaces it's quite a learning curve. I haven't tried recording with it yet as I'd hoped to play around with it a bit and be more familiar with the functionality and navigation.

My goal was to have a simple device to use for recording rather than a mouse, and have physical controls while mixing. There are some good YouTubes on mapping controls in Cakewalk, and at this point it looks like it will be a combination of the out of the box and custom mapping.

Any guidance on control surfaces for newbies would be appreciated. Enjoy the holiday and be safe...

I have been using an Arturia MiniLab MkII, Alesis V49 and just received a PreSonus ATOM controller today. I use Studio One 5, Logic Pro, Ableton and Garageband with these controllers so I have a pretty good idea about MIDI integration and DAW's.
The LX25 looks like a fine controller with lots of potential. The learning curve for Cakewalk will probably be about as steep as the other DAW's, they are all fairly similar, and getting the LX25 hooked up and running should be pretty easy. There are tons of videos on youtube, that should be helpful too. Enjoy.
