Use a powered A/V subwoofer as a practice amp?

I have an small Carver Sunfire II powered subwoofer from my A/V system. It is an 11"x 11" X 11" cube with two long-throw drivers and about 3,000 watts. It makes some serious bass. Could I use this as a small practice bass amp? It has RCA line level inputs and speaker level inputs. Is there a small pre-amp that would make this set-up work? Is there a way to simply reduce the output of my bass so that it would be similar to a line level signal that is produced by a top quality home audio pre-amp?

Only along with a top cab and amp to handle the five plus octaves that the sub won't. Ever listen to your A/V with the sub only?
BTW, passives have about 1/10 the voltage output as line level sources.

Turn the volume down.

Really though, you could but it'd be all sub frequencies as stated.

Using only a powered sub what you'd get is Mud.

Thanks. I understand what you are saying. I just saw the old powered subwoofer sitting there after moving my Ampeg SVT-CL and 18 and 4x10 cabs, and thought...."what if?...."

Yeah I don't think those subs are usable over 100hz. Don't even bother.
