Use Soundcard and Midi Controller Live - HELP

Got a live sound question. Don't know much about this stuff.

We have a keyboard player who wants to check out NI soft synths in rehearsal. I'm the guy with the NI stuff, so . . .

I have an Edirol midi controller keyboard, an Edirol UA-25EX, and a laptop. We use a powered mixer for our PA. No problems setting things up on the midi controller/laptop end. But what do I with the soundcard? Do I just come out of monitor left and right from the UA-25EX into two channels on the powered mixer? Is it that simple, or am I not thinking of something?

You should be able to run the soundcard into the line input of your desk, and do the normal thing there, main fader for P.A and auxiary send for monitor, unless you use a seperate monitor for the keyboard, then use a D.I. box, with the XLR outs to the desk and the signal thru to the monitor.
You might want to check that the laptop is not going to creat a ground loop hum with the P.A. equipment, especially if the laptop uses a grounded power plug. In that case a D.I. box with ground-lift will be essential.

Thanks for the reply. As I said, I don't know much about this stuff. I would really just like to know what plugs in where.

The powered mixer has a 1/4 inch and XLR in on each channel. My soundcard only has 1/4 out left and right for monitoring. I thought I'd have to go 1/4 inch out left and right to 2 separate channels on the PA. I don't know whether or not these 1/4 inch inputs on the mixer are line level though.
