Using a DAW to trigger external effects

I am considering switching using my iPod for live backing track to using a laptop. I would like to configure my DAW to trigger patch changes in my external effects processor. As far as software, I currently have Adobe Audition 3, FL Studio 8 and Sonar 4. I am hoping to use one of these. My external effects processor is a Behringer V-Amp Pro (don't laugh, I get some great tones from this thing :ninja: ).
I currently use an FCB1010 MIDI foot controller, I wouldn't mind being able to use this to trigger the DAW.

there is a cool bit of software called "Plogue Bidel" which is an all in one package for midi & Audio routing and mixing, you can use VST effects and instruments, play midi or audio files.
And the whole lot is extremely configurable, use you midi foot controller to trigger any event you want, even use your patch changer footcontroller as a midi note player like a keyboard or song selector.

It's actually "Plogue Bidule", if I'm not mistaken it's Quebecois slang for "plug fiddler" or something like that...

Not sure that you need to get something that in depth. The key will be if the V-amp has a midi ins, as stated above. Then it should be a simple case of sending cc# changes via midi with Cubase, Logic, etc..

Check the user manual for your V-amp for the control change codes. (If it's midi compliant, that is.)
