Using Credit Cards Through PayPal

There is a bass in the used section I'm GASing for and I'm trying to figure out my options. I'd rather put it on my Discover card than just pay out of my bank account, but I'm not sure how that would work with PayPal. I already have the card linked to my account.
Please share your experience if you have been a purchaser or seller through the TB forums and a credit card through PayPal was used for the transaction? Would you do it again?

I try to do everything through paypal. You're covered if something goes bad. DO NOT send money as a gift. I usually throw in a couple of extra bucks as a favor to help with the Paypal fees. If you send it as a gift, you get ZERO protection.
I use PayPal for everything too, but what I'm trying to find out is does it work differently if you use a credit card like Discover instead of your linked bank account.

I think I tried to get it linked to my credit card once and had trouble. Or it would always want to default to my debit account.
Not sure about it. It would be helpful for sales where I was buying a used item but didn't have the funds in my account, yet had the credit available for it.

Just to add to that point, ANYBODY who asks you to pay for goods or services using paypal gift has just done you a favor.

They warned you in advance that you are dealing with a thief.

They want you to help them defraud paypal, and give up your own protection to do it.

Then pay cash. The protection is worth it. Dont concern yourself with the seller. Real services are not free......It even costs money to buy and sell on this forum.....No membershp fee for Ebay or paypal.

I think you misunderstand me.
If I use a bank account there is no charge to the buyer and the seller pays a small fee if you do it as Goods/Services, but they insure the deal.
If you use a credit card like Discover, someone takes three percent off the top and then there is the normal PayPal fee.
So using the credit card vs a bank isn't a good way to go.

I use my credit card for all my Paypal purchases, and as far as I've been able to tell I've never had to pay any extra fees. I'm not aware of sellers having to pay any extra fees either. Sooner or later I think Paypal will start charging an extra fee to use a credit card, as some other sites do, but as of now I don't think there's any difference.

BTW, the card I use is a Visa that I've had for as long as I can remember. I mention this just in case there are differences between different kinds of cards.

Here's a link to a page about fees on the Paypal site:

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees

As some of us have been saying, there are no extra fees to either buyer or seller when a credit or debit card is used to purchase goods. However, it appears that if you are simply sending money -- i.e., not for a purchase -- there IS an extra fee to the sender for using a credit card rather than bank transfer.

For the record I got paypal to accept my credit card. I tried to add my HSA debit card but it wouldn't work. So I grabbed my checkbook and put the bank account number instead. My HSA is my insurance account, and I recently bought some alien ears 15db ear plugs but I wanted to pay with my insurance. They accept PayPal and since the debit didn't work I went with the bank account info.
