Once Yussef Dayes parted company with Kamaal Williams, he started a new trio with Rocco Pallidino (Pino's son) on bass and Charlie Stacey on keys. The vibe is similar, and you may find some things that tickle your ear in their music.
Those guys basically create their own sound by simply doing what they want, playing what they want to hear, so there are no specific exercises that can teach that. So for you, your best bet it to just spend time with it and just copy it. Make it sound as similar as you can, and if you're lucky you will figure out how they do it. If you're really lucky, you may find that you can some up with your own thing. Doing that kind of deep dive is the thing that can shape your sound for the rest of your life.
Below, is the Trio's first album and if you really like that sound, you should copy every note, of every song as well as you can and eventually it will come. Many times you can contact the bassist directly and they are happy to tell you what they did.
