Using my sans amp as a Di box for iPad?

hi all.

I've got a sansamp bddi. The programmable one.
I'm finding I'm not using it all that much for my bass but I'm getting into synth/other stuff from my iPad and I want to use it for live use.
I know I need a Di box and was wondering if the sansamp would do the trick.
I don't really know much about Di's and I think I might need a passive one for the iPad? But was thinking if I have the bddi on bypass it might work ok?

I assume I would output from the iPad via the headphone jack and buy a cable/connector to go into the 1/4 inch input jack? If so would the 1/4 end be a mono ts jack?

I suppose an option is to sell my bddi and get a radial av1 or something but I want the best of both worlds and can't justify having both. They're not cheap! :-)

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I've run my iPad into my Tascam recorder direct from the headphone jack. I've also used an iPod into my bass amp through the aux jack. Neither required a DI.

Thanks immigrant. Yeah I realised its off topic, that's why it's in the 'off topic' forum :)
Or is it not off topic enough?
And don't worry, I'm not ditching my bass, it will always come first.

Yeah I know you can do that and I've done it at home, but I think for loud, live performances into a PA it prob won't cut it. I'd need to run a 30 odd foot cable which would not be a good result I think.

Anyway, thanks for replying.
