Using three fingers

Without consciously thinking about it, I noticed I was using my ring finger as well as pointer and middle fingers. Lately I find myself using mainly pointer and ring fingers, occasionally bringing middle finger in. Anyone else do this?

I've been exploring whether the ring finger is good for muting the open A string, which I tend to let ring (pun not intended) when I play with two fingers. Keeping the A muted has been a challenge.

I think the OP was asking about plucking with 3 fingers. Gary does not do this. I use the GW technique (learned from his videos) and it involves using the ring finger to mute immediately after plucking with the middle finger. It gets a very funky sound and I love it. Technically, he is using 3 fingers though.
