Using two sansamp pedals together?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is any significance in using two sansamp pedals (lets take the BDDI and the VT for example) in one rig, so like this

Bass -> BDDI -> VT -> PA/Mixer

or

Bass -> Line splitter -> 1. BDDI -> PA/Mixer
-> 2. Fuzz box -> 2. VT -> PA/Mixer

I am looking for a portable rig in which i can use for recording as well, I have taken a liking to both these pedals and I have also read that Max Green from Escape the Fate also uses two pedals.

well lets look at it this way: the VT simulates the entire svt amp. power amp and all. since a lot of people run the BDDI into an SVT, it wouldnt be far fetched to think that running the BDDI into a simulated svt would get bad results. havent played with the VT to know if its gain knob makes the idea of overdriving it redundant, but something tells me it can only get so close to the character of the BDDI on its own.

and with running them in parallel, you can combine really modern sounds with vintage ones.

I don't think having them in series would be a very fruitful combination - you could probably find settings that were OK (by having one or both set very mild, or using a lot of blend on the BDDI), but in general I would think 'sansamp squared' would be very syrupy and scooped.

In paralllel with a splitter could be cool I guess, although when I had both I never had the urge.

Thats what I was thinking, it seems sansamp pedals are scooped enough as it is. Thanks for the advice though guys!

Both great pedals anyway - I've had each 3 times in different formats! The VT is much more versatile and can come close to most of the sounds the BDDI can do, although the BDDI can do get a precise 'bite' with the presence control that you can't match with the VT.

If you do want to chain a couple of drives, the VT takes other pedals very well, so almost any other distortion into the VT is a good recipe.

I know this is an older post, but has anyone tried this? I'm looking at running two character series pedals together. One would act the amp (big clean power amp sound) and the other would work as an OD (british pedal). I wanted to run them in parallel (one to the effects loop), but I wasn't happy with tone loss. Any insight into running them is series? Thanks!
