USPS Redelivery Problem

I have an vinyl album coming through USPS and its insured for $100... (Shouldn't it be able to left at the door being insured for $100? it's only worth $20 including shipping..)

Anyway, I ordered it on the June 21 and it took 10 days to ship so by that time I figured something went wrong and put it in the back of my mind.

I got a shipping confirmation at 2AM on July 1, I didn't see it and check it till it was too late. It was supposed to be delivered that day by 12. Turns out it needs a signature upon delivery and didn't get one. So I schedule a redelivery for today. No one ever came to the door and there was no pink slip with any information left.

On their site it says after 5 days it's going to be sent back to the sender. This is day 2. I can't schedule for tommorow or call because they're closed now, there goes day 3. The 4th is a holiday. So that's day 4, and since they're closed on the 4th so I won't be able to reschedule for the next day so after that that's day 5.

Ugh

Do they count holidays as a part of the 5days? I know it sounds like a dumb question but you can never give USPS too much credit...

And I heard that they don't even check they're online redelivery requests so I'm stumped....

Not trying to rant but this is unnecessarily inconvenient....

USPS is like other shipping companies: The system works great when everything goes smoothly from shipping to delivery including getting a signature (if required by shipper). But things can go downhill real fast if there's any glitch along the way.

I'm pretty sure the 5 day rule applies to USPS business days. Saturday the 4th is a legal holiday so it shouldn't count. Sunday wouldn't count in any case.

They didn't leave a paper notice of attempted delivery in your mailbox on their first try?

They did and I used that information to reschedule the next day (today) but no one came. For some reason you can't sign the slip and tell em to leave it at the door, you have to be there to sign it in person
