Van driver's club

Please tell me that the Wagon has a Big Block and a 4 speed?
Those wagons never came with 4 speed's, at least not in 70 IIRC. It's a 350. It's a 1970 Chevy Kingswood with a funny story behind it. My parents owned it in the early 90's and sold it in 97. Earlier this year my mom said to my dad "it'd be nice to get our old wagon back" about a week later it showed up on kijiji (equivalent to Craigslist)

The truck is a 67 Chevy C10 with 350 and factory 4 speed. Have a 6.0L waiting to go in it once I get a 6 speed :D

Not sure what year GM stopped offering sticks in the big cars, or at least wagons. My 68 ElCamino is a factory 396/4 speed car.

Cool truck, I miss my 69 C10. 350 with a three on the tree.... that thing was a blast to drive and I miss it. If you're interested I have a 6 speed from a 1994 Firebird I'd be willing to sell, not sure if it would bolt up to a 6.0 without some sort of adapter, though.... the 94 'Bird had an LT-1 in it. My original plan was to put it behind the 396 in the Elky but I'm content with the TH350 I have in there now. I'm in Western NY, between Buffalo and Rochester.

More of a mopar guy so not 100% sure when they stopped putting 4 speeds in big cars but I think wagons stopped after 69.

Definitely interested! I'll PM you.

In (I think)1969 my grandad retired from his job as a dairyman. That year he bought a new Pontiac Grand Prix with a 428 and a four speed and had a trailer hitch installed, got a smallish Airstream and headed out with my grandma to see America. I remember several stories about how easy that car pulled that Airstream in the mountains.

there's no safety in a lot of vans when you get hit head on. Your legs have zippity between them and the onrushing doom when the motor is under the front seats.
Yeppers, it was an older Toyota van that stopped my forward progress after being forced off the road into a concrete drainage ditch then up on to the opposite travel lane. My truck was on it's side and it hit the van head on and simply folded the front portion back, along with the driver and passenger. Both had to be cut from the wreckage, but both died on impact so at least they didn't suffer.

I used to own this van

Now, I own a van like this. Great for hauling gear.

As a person who commutes on a motorcycle almost every day, I think it's all a calculated risk. My van is a Chevy Express with the motor mostly in front. Depending on the impact, the seating position in that van might be high enough to go over the problem. Hitting a Peterbuilt head on is an entirely different issue. I'm more concerned about something happening and having gear keep going forward when everything else stops. My van doesn't have a divider.

My van doens't have shag carpet on the ceiling, either. It's a personal failure.

Yeppers, the bulkhead behind the seats was a major selling point for me on my van. As for shag on the ceiling, me either. But at least now i understand why every time i try to get hip with my friends, they undig me. :D
