Looks really nice. I'm wondering if those stripes on the body were really crafted in like an Alembic, painted on, or just slapped on top.

They're the real deal. Everything about this particular Vantage is quality, IMHO. The poor man's Alembic.

Vantage basses are nice. I have played both set neck and bolt on versions. Currently the studio I teach in has a 30" bolt on with a dimarzio p that is excellent.

When I was still in highschool, the music class's bass owned a Vantage model like this ad. It was actually quite a decent instrument. Sounded very good and built solid. I am not surprised one still looks that good today.

The school's bass inspired me to look for my own Vantage bass, which was my first bass. I ended up finding a blue Flying V. Sadly, I later sold that Flying V. It was the only instrument I sold & sometimes I think I'd like to have it back.

Yah, they are very good. That is 80"s from the headstock design.

Great instruments. However, the eBay ad... I think $645 is pretty steep for this instrument. I'm thinking $300-350 at the most, if it was in very good condition. Sometimes you may come across these in pawn shops or local classifieds for $100-200.

That was my first bass. I was in about 8th grade when I got it so I have no idea if it sounded good or not (what did I know back then .. or now). I remember it was nice looking with great hardware and the woods were very nice.

But what I mostly remember is that it had terrible neck dive and probably weighed over 10 pounds. So if you are stickler for weight this probably is not a good instrument. Also the body shape was not well balanced when sitting.

My mom gave me a $300 budget and that's what I spent in about 1983 including a nice Fender style tolex case. So I agree the price is steep. Mine had a chip in the exact same place on the bottom, I had to really look this one over.

I have a Vantage VP710B, very similar to this, but Passive version with double P pups, the strips is real deal, very nicely made.

Yes, I think the price is a bit high, I think $350 will be very fair price since this is a active model.

I traded my Squier VM Fretless for the Vantage, for the price of my Squier was selling for $200-225 means my Vantage should be about the same value

My first electric guitar was a Vantage Les Paul Cherryburst which I unfortunately sold. It's probably the biggest instrument selling mistake I ever made. Solid body and sustain for days. The split buckers were very good. I have never played a Vantage bass.
