Various Pickup Positions

Did a search, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

In the Basses subforum, I started a thread about 3+ pickup'd basses. There were quite a few, and since i'm interested in such a project, I decided I had to know more.

What I'm looking to find out is what the measurements are for pickup positions. For example, how far is a P from the bridge? 60's/ 70's J setups? MM's? Ric? Etc.

Anything you can tell me about those measurements would be fantastic.

I wish I would have measured my Jazz when I still had it.

You can put them anywhere really. Basic rule is that closer to the neck is warmer, and closer to the bridge is bighter. That's why the MM sounds so good, it's right in between so you really get the best of both worlds. I don't think there is any set length, i'm pretty sure it just varies by company. The only basses I have seen that really use the exact same distance is the same company.

That's what I mean. How far does EB set the MM 'bucker from the bridge? Where were the pickups onn the 60's and 70's J's... What about now? P's; yes, please! Ric... well, there's only one!
