They have some chains and they give em names like "What the Pho?" (Thus, the pronounciation rhymes with F****hhhh??)

I haven't been to them yet, but we got all kinds here.. in Garden Grove (cali) is little Saigon.. Getting Pho over there is like getting a slice of pizza in NY.. you know you're getting the 'real stuff'

Pho: pronounced 'foe' or 'faa'??!

Like someone else said earlier, it's like "fun" without the n. Or just the first part of the F bomb.

So it's pronounced Fuhhh, but with the accent mark, make it "Fuhhh?".

Here in Philly, we have several excellent Vietnamese restaurants, and they're among our favorites. I'll take it over Chinese any day.

About 20 years ago, I saw a middle-aged white American dude at an outstanding hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese place. He had a swastika tattooed into his forehead, and was reading a Vietnamese language newspaper. I really did not want to know what he did over there. Yikes.

Maybe he was a proponent of peace?

Thai Food is the bomb-diggity. Vietnamese is close though.

Correct. I got a severe tongue lashing from my Vietnamese F-buddy when I asked her if she wated to go out for "Fo". The best way to describe it is "Fuh?".

The thing is, Vietnamese is a Tone language. So the same word pronounced with a different tone will mean something completely different. Thus - 'Fuh?' means Pho, the noodle soup. 'Fuh' (without rising intonation) is a nonsense word.
