Vintage harmony bass?

Anyone ever hear of these? specs? What body wood? Ply? Japan made? I just saw this on the bay and I am very interested!

I don't know a lot about harmony basses, but it looks interesting. I had a harmony strat with the same headstock shape when I was 15. It wasn't a bad guitar, but I was 15 after all and sanded the finish off to rattle can it black and paint some cheesy skulls on it. As I recall it did not have a plywood body.

There ARE no specs for these. The older Harmony basses are budget models built of whatever they felt like at the time. They have a nice vintage vibe and I like them, but they're the equivalent of today's Affinity basses or the SX line (or at least the good ones are), so don't expect to learn a lot about them other than "Made in Japan."

Harmony was trying to make a "comeback" about 3 years ago. Re-releasing all the older models. I am not sure what happened to them, but there may be some new models posing as older ones, so be careful.

that is an 80's model.

Worth no where near $275.... i'd pay $150 TOPS.

Even then... it'd be pushing it.

My first bass ever was a Harmony P that my uncle gave me when i was 14. It wasn't bad, but definitely not "a hidden Gem". It had some of the weakest pickups i have ever played... so it may have been salvageable with a pup-swap... but i was young n' ignorant. The body was pretty sub-par and the input jack snapped on me twice. The best part was the neck, that was above average. The stock tuners, and vol/tone knobs were bad too. The bridge was okay.

+1 on "i'd spend $150 tops"

Harmony P was my first bass. It weighed about 12 pounds, and shredded my hand on the sprouted frets. Other than the weak pups mentioned above, it was great!!
