Vintage Metronomes

So, I bought a Franz electric a while back and like it. I was GASin' for a mechanical pendulum type so found a Franz one cheap on fleaBay. I just unpacked it and I guess it works but I've never heard of one that does a swing beat like this one does . It does a "beat, beat, rest" triplet type thing. Very cool for jammin' blues beats but I suspect it ain't supposed to do that? I googled for more info on this model and/or a video of it but no joy . Maybe after all these years it developed a soul - I wish a couple of my drummers could swing like that LOL.

Once I messed about with it the "floating mechanism" came unstuck and it keeps regular time now. But I kinda liked it before, guess I could tilt it to one side enough to "swing" again .

Awesome! Those cheap quartz ones they sell now are just soooooo uninspiring . Kinda funny, gigged with my 9 piece horn band last night - and the drummer often checks his metronome before starting a song if he's unsure of the tempo. Too bad I'm married and he's a dude LOL.

I hated the sound of the "beep beep" coming from my Korg tuner/metronome. I found a used 60's Seth Thomas metronome which works well for me. I also find the old metronomes more inspiring! Might start collecting them!

Kindof interesting, the "electronic" one uses a electro-mechanical tapper to make the "click" so no crappy electronic beep either !
