Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has put vinyl wrap on a guitar/bass and if so how did it come out and if I took it off would it ruin the finish..I don't want to paint it in case I have to sell it in the future..What I want to do is turn this into this for my guitarist in my Scorpions Tribute band....Thanks

If the finish fades even slightly over time which is almost certain the areas that are covered will be a different shade when the stripes are removed if they’re left on long enough.
It was good enough for Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons, on their custom made Bolin Peeler P and Tele (Esquire H):

You can extend the life of the wrap with a 2K clear coat. I put a 2K flat, but the texture was too course and I sanded it down to a satin type finish. I would recommend satin finish, if you don't want a glossy finish.

Yeah if the back and sides look as good as the front, thats a darned good first attempt. Not something I would try - 100% positive it would end up looking like like my kids 3rd grade paper mache project
Gibson nitrocellulose finish will burn if you put any plastic/vinyl on it. I don't recommend it.
Can confirm. I had a Beavis sticker on my Strat for a long time. The sticker is now gone but it is obvious where it was.
I wrapped and flipped a P bass in a textured carbon fiber wrap, looked and felt like the real deal. It looked gorgeous - though I’d have to go a-searching for pics, it was several years ago. I was a professional wrap installer (fleets, vehicles, custom sports cars, race cars, etc.) Sky is the limit.
TWO things to note: if you don’t wrap it entirely, then yes the body will fade while under the wrap does not (uv ray’s can’t fade what they don’t touch)
And, especially depending on how much primer (an aggressive pre-application adhesive used to keep the edges down), removal of the wrap will most likely damage the original finish. After a few years, it is guaranteed to damage the finish when removed. Particularly if a filler was used under the paint on the bass.
There is no third thing.
