Visual Metronome app?

I'm looking for a simple metronome app with certain features, but I don't know if it exists yet. I want something that will display on an iPhone or iPad, show beats with four different colored rectangles, and keep track of the number of measures played. The idea is, for example, a 4/4 beat, where different colored squares would flash in sequence 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4, and a counter somewhere would show how many measures have been played. Or else think of it as a metronome that's basically saying "ONE two three four, TWO two three four, THREE two three four," etc. I don't really need much else.

I have two use cases for this:
1) Recording individual tracks in, say, Garage Band, where there may be a long intro or otherwise a lot of rests before that instrument comes in.

2) Using it to teach a new tune with interesting changes to my band. I could tell folks when I want them to come in, without facing each one of them.

Anybody got ideas? I know I've seen something like this on stage at a Peter Gabriel concert, but I don't know if it's a custom thing.

In case you're still finding a good app to do this I use the Tempo App, the full versión has this option to keep track of how many bars you're going, there's dots to see every tempo in a bar but they're the same color. It's a bit different in its andorid version but still a great app to have what you need

If this is for studio/rehearsal room use—and since you already run GarageBand—why not use GB's tracks window for visual cueing? Insert a section of silent audio file above the recording performer's track, marking the measure(s). Or just use the arrangement track.

With multiple musicians, visual cueing gets a little trickier in GarageBand, b/c the program doesn't offer a palette for color coding different tracks. (Driving a confidence monitor is much cleaner in Digital Performer, for example.) But even so, GB's track window offers an annotated arrangement track, a counter, and the wiper scrolling through visible measures. Mirror that to one or more screens in the studio, and your musicians should be able to follow the arrangement as it unfolds.

If you don't want to be staring at the metronome you should get one that simulates motion and gestures.
Conductors use batons that they swing in patterns and use gestures to cue musicians.

You can't actually see colors out of the corners of your eyes.
But you can see good movement gestures. Like when a crow dive bombs your head you duck down.

I don't off hand know of a app but some of the music notation programs have conductor options. If I recall right Notion has it.

Beautiful app, well done; I'll make sure to check it out more in detail. However, I think VoodooJazz was looking for an iOS app.
