Volume reduction switch

Is there a way to have a switch that reduces the output of my jazz bass? For quick clean to dirty sounds with a distortion pedal

Do you want to build it into the bass or have it as a pedal unit?

I'd do the latter.

It's easier IMHO.

You could make it even simpler by dispensing with the "volume 1" pot and just connect the top left and top middle together. Then you'd have the LED on when the volume (set to a lower level) was on. Or you do the opposite.

Put a resistor in series with the output, and then place a switch across the resistor.

So that means the resistor would be attached to the tip section of the jack, and the other side to one side of the switch?

Except that I would desolder the wires that connect to the tip of the output jack on your bass and connect them to the "hot from pickup" point. Then connect the other red wire (center right of the switch) back to the tip of the output jack. Ground R2.
