By all accounts Mike P does nice work on the VT mods. But if I were starting over on the VT, I'd be inclined to get the deluxe for live use, if only because the settings are so touchy on the VT that storing your settings is fairly appealing.
Actually, my ideal version of this pedal would be a regular sized VT, w/ DI, blend, and the ability to save 1 or 2 presets.

I own the VT Deluxe and use it exclusively.
Bass -> Tuner -> VT Deluxe -> XLR out to board.
I use one setting only and really don't need the extra channels. The smaller VT Bass pedal would be exactly what I needed if it had an XLR connector that powered the VT Bass using phantom power from the board like the Deluxe does.
The two best things about the Deluxe: it sounds great and powered via XLR. Least thing I like: physical size (smaller VT is all I really need. Too bad it doesn't have XLR/power port.)
