OK, I actually thought about this a bit, quite experienced on bass, but just recently been opening myself to all sorts of effects and just having fun experimenting. I'm in various cover bands, cover all sorts of styles but mostly classic rock / pop rock ... and even if I have no practical use for certain pedals, I enjoy exploring them at least.
Anyway, I currently have an EBS BassIQ that I love, and a boost pedal (Diamond EQ/Boost) in front of that. They are the first 2 pedals on my board followed in order by ... EBS MultiComp -> EBS MultiDrive -> EHX MicroPog -> EBS UniChorus -> EHX Stereo Memory Man.
The BassIQ pedal is something I always basically thought of as a wah without the hassle of holding a pedal down. I often use it with a little bit of boost from the Diamond.
Other than something like an EBS Wah One, which is also a volume pedal, looking very cool ... are there substantial advantages to using a traditional wah pedal over a auto-q type pedal that I'm missing?
Yes, I know eventually I will succumb to gas and ending getting a wah (likely the EBS Wah One) to find out for myself ... but not knowing any better at the moment, what should I expect?
Many thanks in advance for any insights.
Cheers!
