Hey there all you happy Walkabout Scout Combo users. Have any of you ever paired the 12" combo with the 15" extension cab ?

Although I really love the Walkabout sound, I continue to search for a bit more air movement out of this rig for certain gigs. I have paired the Scout up with a Mesa Powerhouse 1x12 with good results but am in search of a bigger air moving setup. I have been thinking about adding some form of a 1x15 and then came around to the Scout 15" extension, which is also a 4ohm cab (I think).

So, anyone try this ? .. and if so, how did it work for you ?

I just gave that a try this weekend......it really beefed up the bottom end. I recently got a 12 combo cab, and moved the head over from my 15 combo. That means my 15 "combo" is now just a 15 extension cab. Both are 4 ohms, and yeah, I know that's a 2 ohm load, but I monitored the temp on the Walkabout after soundcheck and after each set, and it didn't even get warm, let alone hot. The fan was still blowing cool air! For what it was worth, both master and gain were set at 12 o'clock.

I tried using the 12 cab alone at first, but after using the 15 alone for the last 2 years, it was a little thin on the bottom by comparison. That being said, the condition of my back has forced me to actively work towards downsizing whenever and wherever possible, so I'll be trading off my 15 cab in favor of another 12. Hopefully, that will do the trick, using the 12 combo and the 12 extension. (Were it not for trying to downsize, I would carry on with a 12 and a 15 instead of a 12 and 12.)

For those of you interested in a really clean 15 cab, check my sig.

Hey mimaz,
Cool, so it sounds as if you like the combination of the Walkabout with the 12" and 15" cabs. Hmmmmm

I did see your FS/FT add BTW, and did give it some thought. But , I'm thinking that if I do this, I'd really like to get the "real" extension as I do not want to mess with the reverse 1/4 inch connector thing that the combo cab has.

I was also thinking about how hard it might be to add either a standard 1/4 inch female plug, or a Neutrik connector to the combo cab. Problem is I am not so handy with the tools.

Thanks for the positive reply on the 15 and the 12.
