Im in the middle of one project and already thinking about the next one. All the necks I've done necks out of maple or mahogany. In my quest to experiment and expand my building horizons I've started looking in using Walnut for the majority of the neck laminates. What tone will I get from Walnut, and whats the density like?

I won't comment on the "tone" you'll get from walnut. However, it is a very nice wood to work with. Like any wood, it can range in density, but for the most part it's lighter than maple and not quite as stiff. However, it's plenty durable for a neck (of course, assuming you use good building techniques).
