warmoth gecko?

Anybody out there got a GECKO from warmoth? I was kind of thinking about putting together a 4 string version. The steel bars in the neck seem to solve some problems. The price seems VERY reasonable (necks start at under 200).
And I have to admit,my girlfriend LOVES the gecko inlay on the fretboard. (this could be reason enough to build one );) . Any good? Like . No like.?????????????

Yeah no 4 string Gecko, but they do offer the G4 (and G5) bodies which they claim are "patterned after our popular Flagship Gecko bass line". These use the standard Warmoth 34" necks.

I built a 5-string Gecko last year- Alder body, walnut top, lined fretless ebony fretboard. I installed an 18v Bartolini NTMB Preamp and Alembic pickups.

the best think about ordering one is that you can really get the exact weight you want. I wanted a bass that was as light as possible, so I went through the inventory at Warmoth untill I found the one I wanted (the weight of each body is listed). I had them do the pickup routing before sending it to me.

This is one sweet bass.. I'm now thinking of ordering a 6 stringer...

I like everything about the Gecko, except the dang gecko inlay, which they charge you extra to Invalid Link Removed I have always wanted to build a parts bass. Just been kind of intimidated by the amount of stuff you gotta do. That said I am adept with a soldering iron and most tools. So if I do build one it's going to have some switches! I'd probably go for 2 J pickups AND a humbucker at the neck with 2 3 way switches. I'd forego any tone knobs but maybe have a couple switchable inductor tone circuits, kinda like the the Gibson varitone. Of course it would be mahogany, some other wood and an ebony fretboard. Maybe I can build one of these while I save up for a Sadowsky!
