Warmoth ???s

They are not difficult but they often require a little finishing work , tweaks , setup etc etc .

Warmoth, Allparts, Mighty Mite, USACG, and a bunch of other outfits produce kits for people to assemble.
It's a lot like building a model airplane from a kit versus starting with raw balsa. If you can put tab A into slot B, you will be successful.
As a brand, Warmoth is premium. They're doing Fender-licensed stuff prob'ly better than Fender.
One thing to note: An instrument made from parts is rather like that kit-made model airplane. Its value is much less than a comparable ready-made toy, because the value of the kit is you get to make it yourself. You are paying for the pleasure of building it.
So my caution is, if you don't love building it and just want a good instrument, don't go with Warmoth and the like.

Warmoth, and all those companies listed by Mulcher, are great company's to work with and even if you are new to building and repair you can do it. It's pretty easy, just take your time.
Whoever you decide to go with I would recommend that buy your neck and body from the same outfit in order to reduce minor fitting.

One thing to be aware of with Warmoth. Their bass necks are made with steel support rods, which make the neck more durable, but also change the tone to some degree. Many folks prefer the traditional Fender tone (including myself).
That's why I stick with USA Custom Guitars or AllParts for my necks.
