Here's a BEAUTIFUL 2009 Warrior Signature 5 with a stunning Burl Maple top. I picked this up locally, and my intentions were to have JD build a new neck for it, because I don't like maple boards or inlays. I also don't like gold hardware, so I was going to have him swap that too. After some thought, I'm just going to have JD build me a new bass. Bass is in very good condition with the exception of 2 dings in the back, which I've photographed. A few other small, superficial marks that there's no way I could photo.

My custom build is a few months away, so no huge rush for me to move this. It plays and sounds great!! But the way things are moving these days, it's never too early to start trying!

Here are the specs:

- Alder Body
- Burl Maple Top
- Custom Wood Pickup Covers
- Custom Wood Knobs
- 7 Piece Neck - Mahogany/Wenge/Zebrawood/PH/Zebrawood/Wenge/Mahogany
- BEM Fretboard with Inlays
- Bartolini Soapbar Pickups
- Bartolini Preamp
- 18.3mm Spacing @ Bridge
- 34" Scale
- Weight is unknown - I don't have a scale, but it's not heavy at all.
- Warrior HSC

$2500 shipped in the Continental US.

Now, the glamour shots.

Apropos of nothing but my curiosity, what do these basses sound like, in general? I have no experience w/ Warriors...

Tough to put into words what it sounds like, since tone is both subjective and people use different words to describe the same thing. I searched YouTube for a few examples, but didn't come up with anything worth posting here. They are on par with the other high end builders that I like; MTD, Roscoe, Zon, etc. while having their own flavor. Where they lead the pack, IMO, is playability. I'm spoiled by the way these basses feel and play. I've had over 50 high end basses, and these lead the way in feel and playability. IMO, YMMV, and all that stuff.. :)

Just another subjective opinion but ....

IMO the Warriors sound somewhere between the MTD & the Roscoe basses that I've owned. I'm speaking primarily of the ones with the 55XCB Barts, since that's the only configuration that I've gigged out with, but the ones that I've played through amps in music room settings are still similar in sound/tone.
The necks are very comfortable and the ones that I've played and owned setup more consistently than any bass that I've owned or worked on. Extremely low action without fret buzz.

Joe is spot on. It has some of the sizzle and snap of an MTD and some of the girth of a Roscoe. It's a really nice in between if you will. MTD's can be a little too bright for some and Roscoe's can be a little to thick for some.. This balances those out. This particular one is a little more in MTD territory than Joe's, because of the pickup config. It's wider and has a little more going on down low and low mid with a great slap tone. Very nice all purpose tone, and one that would really work for just about any gigging situation.
