This is an interesting phenomenon. So I string up my Warwick Corvette with a set of black label Warwick strings I had and I go to start playing to hear what they sound like and I was really thinking I made a mistake. The tone was something odd and basically sounding like I threw on shoelaces or weed Wacker line. Not pleasant. But after some playing and a little bit of fine tuning at my bridge they sound just fine now. I have never had a string sound so brittle and lifeless suddenly just turn to fullness and sustain and all the things you'd want in a stainless roundwound. All I did was just raise my string height a little because I needed a little more roundness in my tone. Just posting this to see if anyone else has put on strings thinking you were about to chuck them any second and then suddenly they change character and start sounding good?
