Warwick Corvette 4 or 5?

Ok, you guys, I need help.

As the title may suggest, I cannot decide to buy the Corvette 4 or 5 string. I am usually a 4 string guy. I don't like 6 strings, but I liked the Corvette 5 when I tried it in the store. But the 4 seemed great as well. I got a deal for a 4 for $600 and I can't really justify paying 200 extra clams for an extra string I don't feel I'll even use that much.

Should I not mess with success and go with the ol' 4 string?

Also, fill this thread with pro-Warwick posts, convince me to buy it! Quickly, before I start trying to talk myself out of getting it!

Warwick use the same pickups on 4 and 5 strings Corvettes.

On the other hand, assuming you're talking about the Corvette Standard, you can find either active or passive pickups both on the 4 and 5 strings version.

And you can find a Bubinga or Ash wood.

To summarize, if you liked a specific Corvette Standard 5 strings, you can find the exact little 4 strings brother, and the sound will be almost the same.
Or you can find different woods and different pickups.

By the way, the Corvette Standard is a great bass, my favourite Warwick bolt-on

In Y2K, after 20 years of playing four string, I switched to five string and haven't looked back. I'm so comfortable on five that I wish I had switched over 10 years earlier.

I don't know if you'll ultimately agree, but I strongly encourage you to go for a five string and stick with it. The lower notes are helpful... lots and lots of songs these days have bass lines that travel below low E... but so is the additional range even when you're not playing the lower notes.

Corvette 5 standard is my baby.
It's the most comfortable, neck and string spacing i've found on a fiver.
There's a little bit more stretching involved than a 4 sure but i don't regret buying it for a second.

oh and i highly recommend the active version.

I'm travelling for work this week and a friend loaned me his Corvette 5 std to play while I'm here.
I really like it. Nice little bass, very very playable.
It's the ash body, and i like that a lot, sounds good and not super heavy.
Definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
