I'm planning making a pretty big purchase for my self this summer, this will be my first 'good' bass really. I've honestly been looking forward to this for quite sometime, I have GAS. After a good few months I've pretty well got my heart set on either a Spector Euro 4 LX or a Warwick corvette $$. I just want some more experianced players to chime in on there opinions. Please refrain from thinking about price & looks, I'm most curious what you think about sound & quality. I mostly play or try to play, haha, prog, ranging in soft rock through metal. Thanks for anyones help!

Warwick Corvette $$ or Spector Euro 4lx?

ive owned spectors and warwicks for years !!!! i love em both ... but when it comes down to it , i like spectors better . i like neck through basses and glossy necks ... and really i like the spector tone (with any preamp) vs the warwick . but im tellin you there will be just as many posts for each one ... go play some store displays and see what you like and how it feels wearing a strap
I had to make a similar decision in Sept. of last year. I chose the Euro LX (sight unseen) becasue of how much I disliked the $$. The Euro is amazingly versatile and much more playable than the $$ in my opinion.

Make sure you have your back set for the Warwick. I cant speak for the Spector, but the ones I have played have all been very heavy.
Plus, IMO, the humbuckers just sounded like Jazz pups..

I ended up with my current bass, Warwick 5 string Corvette $$.
HUGE sound... i liked it a whole lot better SOUND wise than the Spector. But, the Spector played better. I'm still not 100% comfortable with the Warwick. I mostly bought it for the sound.

Both have big necks and big sounds. Both are basses you really need to play to decide since there are a lot of lovers and haters for both basses. 
Go with the Spector, you won't regret it. The $$ I've tried sounded really nasally and no matter how much bass i dialed in I could never get a well balanced sound. It's not impossible because I've heard some great sounding $$ but those weren't the ones I've played. And the infamous neck is just and bad as all the rumors say, chunky to a fault. The shape is a akin to a trapezoid with rounded edges which you can imagine is very uncomfortable.
The Spector Euro 4LX is more versatile, better sounding, and plays better than any Warwick that I've ever played. I'm sure it could give you all the tone you need and then some.

As mentioned before, you are going to get totally opposite answers
I can not stand Spectors but love Warwicks. The necks are incredibly comfortable to my hands and I love the heft of them, although the $$ models are a bit lighter because of the ash bodies. Ultimately, you just need to play them both and go from there.
