Done with finals and back with the good stuff. The frets are in!!

So we don't get confused:

First two. The press needs a tiny bit of tweaking but it did it's job and it was free.

The guitarists would be happy if I stopped here.

I still have the other side to bevel and then I just have to dress the pointy bits, level, and crown.

I got the Linseed oil pigment and Tru-oil for the body today. I'll work on that tomorrow and file frets between coats. This thing is really coming together. This is the part when the work becomes really tangible. If all goes well I think I could be assembling this guy by Wednesday.

Done!

I left out the boring parts like a bunch of coats of Tru-Oil and crowning the frets. You've seen that before. The frets came out ok. Not bad for a first fret install I guess. I went a little crazy leveling so I had to do a full crown. There are still two buzzy spots that I'll deal with later, and I definitely need to polish them better in the future.

I was hoping for a darker black on the body but this is what I got. The old lady likes it. I'm sure it'll grow on me.

I had a Basslines Quarter Pounder sitting around so I threw it in to see what it sounded like. It's a little jazzier than the MEC so it'll stay for now. I can't decide if I want to get a matching bridge pup, though. Right now it kind of sounds like a P/J bass, which is cool but not really what I was looking for.
