warwick custom shop...

so i'm really digging these warwicks now as i loved once in my life then i hated them for a good portion of my life now i seem to love them for all they are worth but they dont seem to make anything that i really need and i think i'm ready to throwdown some real cold hard cash on a custom wick...i know i've seen a few floating around here and i just want to ask how much where they...i know imma be spending at least$4,500-$6,000 , so i just want know how much and was it really worth it?
pics would be nice as well!:cool:

Back in 97 when I had lots of money, I had this custom NT thumb 5 made to suit. It has curly bubinga, seymour duncan bass lines & preamp, Ying yang inlays as fret markers & the customary "custom built for Rusty" pearl inlay at the 26th fret.

It really is my favorite bass that seems to be getting warmer with age. (either that or my ears are going bung from standing next to drummers too much!!)

Back then the custom instruments were actually hand made and cost a pretty penny. mine was about $6500 aussie money. But I really think they are worth it.

I know a guy who is spending something like £2600 on one right now...thats over $5000! Ridiculous, he could have saved a bit more and got a Fodera or Alembic! Just imo, of course, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with them, but "bang to buck" comes to mind...

fo sho but alembic just isnt my game and fodera.....some f the most amazing instruments but the warwicks have what i need right an alembic and or fdera will be some years down the line! as imma be going all out w/ this bass either a thumb NT or a streamer stage 1 (6-string)

i've heard that the newer wicks are not as nice as they are not "hand made" anymore but does anyone know just what parts are still hand made? as a CNCed body and or neck is almost the same thing but i'm sure they use the good ol masters to double check their work no?

Go for it! I'd love to have a custom Warwick even though I'm more than happy with the production models I have.

You'll hear a lot of people here on TB give you crap about wanting to spend that much on a 'Wick. Seems a lot of folks on TB hate Warwicks and feel like they have to dog them every chance they get. Don't listen to it. Nothing sounds like a Warwick. If that's the sound you like (and it is for me) then there's nothing wrong with shelling out big bucks on a Warwick.

haha production models, just dont cut it they dont have all the woods and specs that i want n seeing as a stock ^thumb NT is over $2,600 i just mite as well save up more and get a dream bass you know just got all out once and for all (not for all as we all know GAS hits very often...on a daily bases), yea i hear you though when people bash WICKs as i use to be one of them and yes i now know that there is nothing like a wick they have this sound that i dont really hear in anything else sure all of people like a jazz tone P tone a barotlini tone n dont get me wrong i do as well but i like something a little different n i know imma run with this, and as for pending an whoo load on a custom wick many people spend the same if not more on MTD's, Foderas, Alembics, Norstrands, Benaventes ECTs so yea as i said i have fallen in love all over again w/ the warwicks!
