Warwick GPS Corvette

I am interested in one of these.
I think I would like the Passive Pickups over the Thumb.
I like Jazz Basses and Thunderbirds.
So this is interesting to me.

OK I'll play.
I really like my Corvette. Build quality is off the charts. You will get polarised views on the MEC electronics - in my case the active pickups and 2-band EQ are very flexible and very quiet and I like it. And at just under 7.5lb I can barely feel it on the strap. The strap bitton sitting above the 14th position can make the neck feel long, so some adjustment from your J might be required...

Well I went for the Corvette. I dont like the body shape or pickup placement on the Thumb.

I think all current GPS thumb models have active electronics and pickups - only the Covette has options fof active or passive, so if you want passive it won't be a Thumb.

What's the issue with actives? They are generally less prone to noise/interference and tone loss through long cables or badly-designed preamps. And, I believe, all of the actives have a passive bypass.

The problem is with me on active electronics.
I am technology intimidated.
I use a few Dark glass stomp boxes and don't want to readjust my settings.
The Corvette appeals to me because of the pickup placement too.

I took the bait and ordered a GPS Corvette with a Swamp Ash body.
I should get it next week.

I had a few passives 5-strings. They sounded pretty awesome with D'Addario Chromes. I only got rid of them because of the weight and tight string spacing.

Edit: I had a couple old German-made ones and one Korean-made one. I think the Korean series were known as The Pro Series. I haven't owned or played any of the German Pro Series.

I picked up a fretless corvette from a buddy, had no intention on getting it, was picking up another bass and he had it on a stand, I played it and decided to buy that one instead of what I was going to get. He had active electronics added, I find it extremely versatile especially for a fretless.

Fast forward to this past Tuesday, I received a fretted corvette, the one with Wenge neck and fretboard, because I loved my fretless so much. This one is passive and powerful, the tone knob really makes a difference.

These are some of the best built basses I have ever heard and played, the only downside is they are heavier, I’m a short dude so I really feel it. Find a sweet spot on your strap and you’ll be golden
