Warwick help! Trade dilemma...

Hey all...

I was always a 5-string player until I bought a "vintage" 1991 Warwick SS2 4-string and fell in love. However, I have always missed that low-B rumble.

Now... I have an opportunity to trade my '91 4-string for a 2008 5-string.

My dilemma is... is this a good trade? I know the older 'wicks are well sought after, have slimmer, wenge necks and were all hand made, but I want that 5er again. The '91 seems less "generic" than the newer SS2s.

Help! What would you do? Anyone prefer old to new 'wicks?

The new ones are still amazing instruments... just play them both back to back if you can, and if you like the 5 better, do the trade. If not, don't do it. It should really be about which you like best, right?

I wouldn't trade. Once you find something that you've fallen in love with, my advice would be to stick with it or regret it later.

Don't trade. Downtune to BEAD if you miss the low B so much - on a 24 fret bass like your Warwick, you'll hardly be using any range

Is the 5-string a Streamer SII as well? Tough choice if it is.

Yeah... they are both SS2s, mine is a '91 4-string, the other is an '08 5-string.

I'm going to play them both side by side before anything... I might fall in love all over again!

Wish I could just have both!

Yeah that's tough. A SS2 5 string is something to behold for sure, with it's non-narrow string spacing and all.
