Double Bass Warwick LWA 1000 for upright?

The Warwick LWA 1000 looks good to me for UB as I am searching out a head (only) that's got 2 channels to run a mic (golden bullet)and piezo(KK bass Max double pro).Anyone DB players using one? Can a mic and PU be coupled any other way for single channel?

+1 on the Felix

When I was using a mic and pickup together, the felix worked great into most amps or in-ears

I'd try to find an older Acoustic Image that has everything you need if you just want a head. I have a Ten2 head and I can also run a mic and pickup....plus the tone is glorious!

Input impedance is vitally important with DB pickups, which is why BG amps, like the Warwick, are not great suggestions unless you put a buffer in between. If you go with the mixer, input impedance should be in your shopping criteria.

Or look for a 2 channel DB preamp, like the Headway.

If you don't want more stuff to schlepp (I get that) then narrow your search to a head or combo designed for DB

Troy, your wisdom acknowledged. Hoping someone chimes in on the Phil Jones D600 I asked after. All my PU's have preamps, and would also prefer an amp with desired input imped anyway . This whole inquiry is based on staying away from BG amps. Not finding a 2 channel Ac Image yet and haven't got the $ for a second Genzler AA

I've used my Headway EDB-2 HE into the the LWA-500 quite often. The EQ isn't completely flat. I measured once, and iirc, there was ~5db bump around 80-100 hz and then a steep roll off below that (I think it was 18db/octave). It's neutral in the mids and highs. That's not a bad EQ curve for bass IMO, but it does accentuate the thumpiness of the already very thumpy Realist pickups (I use a Lifeline). I have also used the effects loop, which seemed to need a little more gain then my Headway has, but the FX loop on the 1000 is probably different since I believe it is in series (the 500 has a parallel FX loop).

I now prefer to use a Jay Ganz Straight Ahead power amp with the Headway. Using the Headway into an FX loop is nice, though, because it has the extra benefit of leaving the front end open for bass guitar for those of us who double, effectively creating a three channel rig.

I once tried to use the serial effect loop return for a second bass instrument in a (via Di) recorded rehearsal and found out that the DI only got the amps preamp signal, not the signal from the effect return.
It might have been a dumb setting for the DI out (can switch pre or post-EQ), since I usually only use pre-EQ, but it would be a good idea to check that to know if that works as you want it.

I use an LWA 1000 with a NS Designs NXT-A. The low impedance preamp causes problems with a weak signal and distortion. A matching preamplifier really helps.
